The 2017 Future Direction Scholarship program is now open.
The Future Direction Network is offering 2 x 3 year scholarships worth $6,000 per annum in 2017. Commenting on the decision to award two scholarships, FDN Chairman Ninus Kanna said lower investment returns resulted in the decision. “As many retirees and savers are painfully aware, the low interest rate environment has resulted in investment returns below our long-run expectations when the fund was set up in 2009″, Ninus said. “To ensure the sustainability of the FDN Scholarship in future years, we’ve had to make the unfortunate decision to give opportunity to two future role models, instead of three.”
The scholarship recipients will also be paired with a mentor to help support, encourage and guide the student through their studies.
The scholarship program will enter its fifth year in 2016 and has to date supported 11 students from South-Western Sydney. The Future Direction Network is proud to support students who are currently undertaking studies in the following disciplines:
- Health Sciences;
- Fine Arts and Teaching;
- Architecture; and
Applicants must live in South West Sydney and have completed their HSC at a high school located in South West Sydney.
Applications close at Midnight Sunday 8th of January 2017 with the recipients being named shortly thereafter.
